Importance of Exercise

As we age, Hull Chiropractic knows, the muscles tighten and range of motion of joints can be minimized and compromised. This can put a damper on active lifestyles and even hinder the daily normal activities. Simple tasks, like bending over to pick something up or to reach the top shelf can now be quite difficult. 

A regular stretching program can extend the muscles and make everyday activities easier. Anyone can learn to stretch, regardless of age or flexibility. Stretching should be part of your daily routine, whether or not you exercise. Stretches can easily be done while watching TV, doing computer work, or preparing to sleep. Stretching is an important part of rehabilitation of the soft tissues and speeds the healing process. A regular stretching program can extend your flexibility and joint movement. Please make your muscles happy and they will be good to you!

Strength training is an important part of a healthy life style. Some of the many benefits are listed below. Strong muscles help you lose weight. Muscle tissue burns as much as 15 times more calories per day than does fat tissue, even while resting. Nothing increases your metabolism better than muscle.
Your Heart is your most important muscle. If your heart is in good shape it doesn't have to pump hard when you are active. More muscle power means you put less strain on joints and connective tissue when lifting or exerting. Strong muscles help prevent arthritis and osteoporosis. Strong and lean muscles improve your appearance. You have more energy and confidence and mental concentration with strong muscles.

Strong muscles require active living. A sedentary lifestyle will degrade your overall health. Strong muscles help fight free radicals. 

Strong muscles are good for everyone. The American Heart Association now recommends that all adults’ strength train their major muscle groups at least twice a week.
